Automation is not a one-time activity and it is not going to replace your manual Testing completely.
All you need to group your actions based on the repetitions. I would say personally, that a Tester should always be capable and adaptable to the evolving tools.
Where to start with?
Just go back, and refresh your college days. Try to learn any coding language. Any!!! Pick your choice. If you are starting from scratch, make sure to pick a language that is supported by most of the automation tools in the market. The current trend is Python, Java, and JavaScript are used in most of the tools.
And today, plenty of tutorials and materials are available for free. All you have to do is invest your time in learning.
